It’s going to be a packed Saturday, but we are very excited that we will be able to show all the Nominees in full length! In parallel, we will have a whole day of panel discussions with filmmakers, researchers and other practitioners, discussing the state and future of the artform. Find the detailed programs on your right!

All screenings and panel discussions are free for the public to attend and we hope you will all join us at 8pm for the Mackies - our Machinima Filmfest Awards Ceremony - and some 8bit dancing afterwards.

The general quality of submissions was so high this year that the Selection Committee chose to give out 15 additional Honorary Mentions! They are given to one film in each category that didn’t make it to the Nominations but showcases outstanding filmmaking in that particular category.

After reviewing the submissions we got for the “Best Game Company Machinima”, we decided to change the format for that category. Given the diversity of the entries we got, we decided that instead of selecting 5 nominees that differ largely in length and scope, we give out an Honorary “Outstanding Achievement in Game Cinematics” Award that highlights one particular production that came out this past year. This Award will be given out at the official Awards Ceremony along with the other Mackies.

As November 1st draws closer, keep your eyes on this website for more information regarding the festival itself!

For the first time, we are including a “Best Long Format” category to pay tribute to the growing number of machinima films out there that are longer than 20 minutes!

We’re also introducing the “Best Newcomer” category to honor up and coming filmmakers that just got started in machinima.
